  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (a blend of cheddar and mozzarella)

Seasonings

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Oven and Baking Dish: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray a 9×13 inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
  2. Cook the Egg Noodles: Cook the egg noodles according to the package directions. Drain well and set aside.
  3. Mix the Casserole Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the soup, sour cream, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt until smooth and well combined. Stir in the diced ham, 1 and 1/2 cups of shredded cheese, and the cooked egg noodles until evenly mixed.
  4. Assemble and Bake the Casserole: Pour the noodle mixture into the prepared baking dish. Cover with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes to ensure a creamy casserole.
  5. Add Cheese Topping and Finish Baking: Remove the foil carefully after 30 minutes. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of shredded cheese evenly over the top. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Serve the Casserole: Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your cheesy, comforting ham and noodle casserole!

Notes

  • You can substitute the soup with either cheddar cheese soup or cream of chicken soup depending on your preference.
  • For a lower-fat version, use reduced-fat sour cream and cheese.
  • Leftover casseroles can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated.
  • Add vegetables like peas or broccoli for added nutrition and texture.
  • If you prefer a crispy topping, broil the casserole for 2-3 minutes instead of baking at the end.
