Ingredients

Scale

Protein

  • 1 lb chicken breast, sliced

Vegetables

  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced

Sauces & Oils

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Garnish

  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil: Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat to prepare for cooking the chicken.
  2. Cook the chicken: Add the sliced chicken breast to the skillet and cook until browned and cooked through, which usually takes about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Sauté aromatics: Add the minced garlic and ginger to the skillet and sauté for another minute until fragrant, enhancing the dish’s flavor.
  4. Cook vegetables: Add the sliced bell pepper and onion to the skillet and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables become tender but still crisp.
  5. Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, mix together 3 tablespoons of gochujang, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, and 1 tablespoon of honey until fully combined.
  6. Add the sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over the chicken and vegetables in the skillet, stirring well to ensure everything is evenly coated.
  7. Simmer: Cook the mixture for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly and infuse the ingredients.
  8. Garnish and serve: Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving for added texture and fresh flavor.

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of gochujang to make the dish more or less spicy according to your preference.
  • For a gluten-free option, use tamari or gluten-free soy sauce.
  • Serve with steamed rice or noodles to make it a complete meal.
  • Chicken thighs can be used instead of breast for a juicier texture.
