Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 24 oz. Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda)
  • 12 oz. Citric Acid

Wet Ingredients

  • 3.5 oz. Shea Oil
  • 2 oz. Cocoa Butter
  • 5 mL Creamsicle Fragrance Oil

Colorant & Equipment

  • Coral Orange LaBomb Colorant (amount as needed to reach pale orange color)
  • Disk Mold (10 molds)
  • Package Plastic

Instructions

  1. Combine dry ingredients: In a large bowl, mix together the baking soda and citric acid using your hands to break up any clumps, ensuring an even powdery consistency.
  2. Melt the oils: In a heat-safe container, combine the cocoa butter and shea oil. Melt them in the microwave in 30-second intervals, carefully removing the container as it will be hot.
  3. Incorporate wet and dry: Pour the melted oils into the baking soda and citric acid mixture. Use your hands to mix thoroughly until the liquid is fully absorbed and the mixture reaches a damp sand-like texture.
  4. Add fragrance: Add the Creamsicle Fragrance Oil to the mixture and mix completely with your hands or spatula to evenly distribute the scent.
  5. Divide and color: Split the mixture evenly into two containers. To one container, add drops of the Coral Orange LaBomb Colorant, mixing with your hands until achieving a pale orange hue.
  6. Fill molds: Fill half of each disk mold with the orange-colored mixture, pressing it down firmly to create a smooth, compact layer. Then fill the remaining half with the uncolored white mixture, pressing down to fill the mold completely.
  7. Finish molding: Press the two layers firmly so they adhere, forming one solid disk. Smooth the top surface with your fingers, place the mold cap on, and allow to set before packaging.
  8. Usage: To use, place half of one bath truffle into your tub of warm water. It will fizz and release nourishing oils and fragrances for a relaxing bath experience.

Notes

  • Use gloves to prevent color staining on your hands while mixing the colorant.
  • Pressing the bath truffle mixture firmly into molds helps them hold their shape better when drying and during use.
  • If the mixture feels too dry, you can add a few drops of melted shea oil to help bind it without activating the fizz prematurely.
  • Store bath truffles in a dry, airtight container to preserve their scent and fizz quality.
