Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate Layer

  • 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips (one whole bag)

Pretzel Layer

  • 8 oz pretzels (half of a 16-oz bag)

Caramel Layer

  • 11 oz Kraft caramel (one whole bag)
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream

Topping

  • Sea salt, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside to prevent sticking and for easy cleanup.
  2. Melt Chocolate: Place semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and melt in 30-second increments, stirring between each until smooth and fully melted to avoid burning.
  3. Spread Chocolate: Spread about two-thirds of the melted chocolate evenly over the parchment paper-lined baking sheet to form the base layer. Then, scatter the pretzels on top, gently pressing them into the chocolate to ensure they stick, without worrying about perfect placement.
  4. Melt Caramel: In another microwave-safe bowl, combine Kraft caramel and heavy cream. Microwave for about 2 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the caramel is smooth and pourable.
  5. Drizzle Caramel: Evenly drizzle the melted caramel over the pretzels, covering them generously for that rich, sticky layer.
  6. Add Remaining Chocolate and Salt: Drizzle the reserved melted chocolate over the caramel layer, then sprinkle flaky sea salt evenly on top to enhance the sweet and salty contrast.
  7. Set the Bark: Refrigerate the assembled bark until fully set, about 1-2 hours. Alternatively, allow it to set at room temperature for around 2 hours if fridge space is unavailable.
  8. Cut and Serve: Once set, cut the bark into pieces of desired size and serve or package for gifting.

Notes

  • You can substitute semi-sweet chocolate chips with dark or milk chocolate depending on your preference.
  • If Kraft caramel is unavailable, use any soft caramel candies or caramel sauce with similar consistency.
  • Be sure to use flaky sea salt for best texture and flavor; regular table salt will be too harsh.
  • Store the bark in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks to maintain freshness.
  • This recipe is easily doubled for larger batches and holiday gifting.
